Our Ride from St Malo to Nice

This is our blog of our cycle ride that will go from St Malo to Nice starting in September 2015. The route is well trod route that has been specially designed for cyclists. The route will take us mainly through rural villages and avoids large cities. Of the total distance of 1,600 kilometers there will be 1,000 rural kilometers alongside the Loire and Vienne rivers in the North and then down through the Dordogne before turning east up the Lot Valley.
Then we will traverse the southern reaches of the Massif Central.

A highlight is sure to be riding up Mount Ventoux which should extend us fully.

The final section will be through spectacular gorges into the lavender fields and vineyards of Provence. We will ride along the banks of the Rhone and Durance rivers.

An exciting part of any ride is the planning and research. Good planning ensures that you get to the start on time and that you have a good idea of where you are riding and what you want to see. It also ensures that you can enjoy the countryside and culture of France which is something we are really looking forward to.
